Hearing Equals Behavior by Dr. Guy Berard

This book was written by the otolaryngologist (Ear, Nose and Throat physician) who developed Berard Auditory Integration Training.  This book includes the principles of AIT and a summary of various case histories, complete with copies of individual hearing tests before and after AIT.  This English paperback version was published in 1993, by Keats Publishing, Inc.  This book has recently been updated and may now be purchased through Amazon.

It also includes a chapter on Dr. Berard’s successful AIT treatment of individuals who were suffering from depression (including suicidal depression).  These cases showed impressive improvements following one to three courses of Berard Auditory Integration Training.

Hearing does equal behavior. Is your behavior “coping behavior” or “chosen behavior” and what part is personality? Dr. Guy Berard shared in his book, Hearing Equals Behavior, “The truth manages to emerge only when something new and unexpected can by fully exposed to study, discussion, and argument, and accepted or refuted on that basis.” Although In-Home Berard-based AIT formal clinical trials have not been completed, there are case studies and testimonials from clients and Berard Practitioners from around the world. Dr. Berard wrote, “…the search, conducted with a willingness to see what is there, is a never-ending adventure, with the richest of rewards.” (pg.94) These rewards have been experienced by numerous families who have benefited from the AIT in-home programs when done according to the Berard based protocol. With advances in technology, in-home programs have been successfully implemented throughout the world, since 2004. This has been particularly important for clients who would not have been able to recieve A.I.T. in an office setting due to time, distance, and cost
